Visit to Napier Port & the MTG

Ruma Whitu had a wonderful morning over in Napier visiting the Napier Port and spending time at the Napier Museum (MTG) looking into 19th Century occupations that no longer really exist.
The port blew us away as we learnt many interesting facts about where and how goods are exported to and imported from. More than 50% of the imports to Napier are fertiliser! We also got a kick out of seeing boats registered to Panama, a country we had been looking into prior to the visit.
At the museum their education officer ran us through an interesting programme which finished with all students putting on a play to show a day in the life of port workers in Napier Port's early days.
A big thanks to the MTG for organising our trip and to all the parents who made the visit possible.
