Film Making - Outlook for Someday

As part of the Outlook for Someday film competition, five Year 7 students attended a film making workshop in Napier. These students came back bubbling with enthusiasm and some real film know how. As a result Room 7 have completed four films which have been entered in the competition.

The byline for the competition is Young People + Film + Sustainability and the link is below if you would like to know more:

We looked into script development, types of camera shots and filming techniques. It's great to see we have so many natural actors in the class. This is something we would definitely like to develop further! Students signed waiver forms as part of the image rights for the competition. The videos are on Youtube but unlisted for privacy. Parents and students can access them here or via the class site.

Room 7 were able to enter a large number of scale drawings and statistical investigations into the HB Mathletics Championships and we have heard back about our medal haul. PROBLEM SOLVING
Mr John Fullwood has also been in helping us prep for the problem solving competitions we have two teams entered in both the Year 7 & 8 events. We have had extension sessions with Mr Fullwood on Friday mornings each week and he has kept us on our toes with tactics and team work.

Good luck to those selected and remember Year Sevens are competing on 16th September and the Year Eights are on the 22nd.

Technology Challenge

Room 7 competed in a fiercely contested technology challenge earlier in the term. Jonzy, Jace, Alex and Hannah were selected to represent us at the HB Science Fair Challenge. Honourable mentions to Adam, Thomas, Lexi and Olivia.
Photos below show the in class task and regional challenge. In class we had to support as many dice as possible with bonus points for height. Hannah and Alex headed the leader board briefly at the HB event. Jonzy and Jace finished a commendable fourth.
