Hands on Maths Learning

Room 7 have been using real life contexts to get to grips with mathematical ideas ranging from volume and capacity to statistical investigations. It was also great learning and good fun to get the opportunity to go to Hastings Girls' High School to experience the World of Maths roadshow which involved everything from graphing the descent of marbles down gradients to escaping from interlocked chains. Our inquiry this term is focussing on exploring flight. We started with a helicopter experiment to get to grips with fair testing and decided to share with our buddies in Ruma Tahi.
